English version below.Es war ein schwerer Tag für die Fans von FVK. Einen Tag vor Halloween fand das Abschiedskonzert von Fearless Vampire Killers statt.
FVK hatten im Juli diesen Jahres das Ende der Band verkündet, nachdem Frontmann Kier Kemp seinen Ausstieg bekannt gab.
Ein kollektiver Schock durchfuhr die Fangemeinde und den Aussagen der restlichen Bandmitgliedern nach, traf es auch sie völlig unvorbereitet. Entsprechend wenig verwunderlich war es, dass das von den Fans ersehnte Abschiedskonzert relativ schnell ausverkauft war und man der hohen Ticketnachfrage mit einer Matineevorstellung nachgab.
Zusammen mit den beiden Supportacts Ashestoangels und ZOAX sollte im Underworld Camden ein denkwürdiger Konzertabend beschert werden.
Nach einem recht zügigen, wenn auch verspäteten Einlass, ließ die erste Band des Abends nicht lange auf sich warten. Ashestoangels sind längst keine Unbekannten mehr im Raum London, weswegen die Partystimmung vorprogrammiert war. Und da Halloween direkt vor der Tür stand, ließen Crilly (v) Jim (d), Adam (g), Josh (g),Nikki (k) und Chris (b) es sich nicht nehmen die Bühne kostümiert zu rocken.
Mit viel Energie und nicht wenig Selbstironie heizten sie das Publikum an und sorgten für einen gelungen Einstieg.
ZOAX hatten es dahingehend etwas schwerer den Zugang zur Audienz zu finden. Bei nur wenigen wirklich bekannt und mit einem zur Theatralik neigenden Sänger, brauchte das Publikum etwas um mit der Band warmzuwerden. Doch allein die Mimik von Frontmann Adam und sein Geplänkel mit den vordersten Reihen waren unterhaltsam genug, um keine Langeweile aufkommen zu lassen.
Dann war es soweit. Nach kurzer Umbaupause brach die letzte Stunde von FVK an.
Und was war es für ein Abschied!
Es war eine Party, wie wir sie selten auf einem Konzert erlebt haben. Von Traurigkeit anfangs keine Spur, obwohl es anders erwartet wurde. Die Setlist war eine Reise durch acht Jahre FVK-Geschichte und schloss neben den neueren Titeln wie Braindead, Like Bruises und Regret auch altes Material aus der Anfangszeit ein. So wurden Lieder live zum Besten gegeben, von denen man sich schon sicher war, sie nie (wieder) live zu hören. Mit dazu gehörten P-Train und Don Teriestio und natürlich - einen Abend vor Halloween - auch All Hallows Evil.
Der ausverkaufte Club bebte und es hätte gut und gerne noch zwei Stunden so weitergehen können, wäre da nicht der eigentliche Grund dieses Konzertes gewesen. Mit einer kurzen Ansprache von Laurence Beveridge (v/g), der sichtlich um die passenden Worte rang, wurde das offizielle Ende von FVK verkündet und die traurige Gewissheit brach erneut über die Besucher herein. Ganz so einfach wollten FVK dennoch nicht gehen und bevor der Forderung des Publikums nach einer ordentlichen Zugabe nachgegeben wurde, präsentierten Luke und Drew mit vertauschte Rollen spontan noch eine Bass-Drum-Einlage von Seven Nation Army. Die Fans jubelten und auch die Bandmitglieder hatten sichtlich Spaß mit dieser Aktion.
Doch das Ende dieses Konzertes konnte nicht ewig hinausgezögert werden und als auch die Zugabe schlussendlich mit City Falls To Dust beendet war, verließen Drew, Laurence, Kier, Luke und Shane zum letzten Mal zusammen die Bühne.
FVK gingen mit einem Knall und genau so, wie man sie gerne in Erinnerung behält: Laut, lustig, fannah und voller Elan.
Trotz Wehmut und gemischten Gefühlen, ob der großartigen Show, die jedoch ihre letzte bleiben wird, bleibt ein Funken der Hoffnung: Es wurden auf beiden Seiten bereits neue Pläne angekündigt, auf die man gespannt sein kann und vielleicht muss man es auch aus genau dieser Warte aus sehen.
Denn auch wenn das Kapitel FVK beendet ist, erwarten uns nun gleich zwei neue musikalische Abenteuer. Wir müssen uns nur darauf einlassen.
Von unserer Seite bleibt nur noch, Laurence, Drew, Shane, Luke und Kier viel Erfolg für die Zukunft zu wünschen.

The day before Halloween this year was a sad one for all the FVK fans as the band happened to bid farewell to their fans with their final concert. Fearless Vampire Killers had announced their break up in July after front man Kier Kemp decided to leave to band.It was a collective shock for the fan community and according to the statements of the other band members, it hit them entirely unprepared as well.
So it wasn't surprising that the farewell show the fans were longing for sold out pretty fast and that a matinee show was added due to the high demand.
Together with the support acts Ashestoangels and ZOAX it was to become a memorable concert in the Underworld Camden.
Following a belated but swift admission the first band didn't let the people wait for too long.Ashestoangels are no strangers in the London area anymore and so the party atmosphere was to be expected. Since Halloween was just around the corner Crilly (v), Jim (d), Adam (g), Josh (g),Nikki (k) and Chris (b) insisted on rocking in costumes.
With high energy and self irony they spurred the audience and provided a successful start for the whole evening.
ZOAX on the other hand struggled more to find an access to the audience. Only known by a few and with a singer who's prone to theatrics, the crowd needed time to warm up with the band. But the facial expressions of front man Adam and his way to skirmish with the front rows where entertaining enough that none got bored.Then it was time. After a brief reconstruction the last hour of FVK dawned.
And what kind of a farewell it was: A party like we rarely experienced at a concert. Although it was expected, there was no sign of sadness. The setlist was a journey through eight years of FVK history and included old material from the beginning alongside the more recent titles like Braindead, Like Bruises and Regret. Songs were played of which one was sure to never hear them live (again). Among them were P-Train, Don Teriestio and - as to be expected on the evening before Halloween - All Hallows Evil. The sold out club quaked and it would have been good and happy to go on for two more hours, if it wasn't for the reason for this concert.
With a brief speech by Laurence Beveridge (v/g), who clearly struggled for the right words, the
official ending of FVK was proclaimed and the sad certainty of it found its way back to the visitors. But FVK didn't want to leave that early and before they gave into the demand of the audience for a decent encore, Luke and Drew spontaneously switched roles and presented a bass-drum-stunt of Seven Nation Army. The fans cheered as the band members obviously had fun with this move.Yet the end of the concert couldn't be delayed any further and as the encore ended with City Falls To Dust Drew, Laurence, Kier, Luke and Shane left the stage together for one last time.
FVK went with a bang and exactly as one would like to remember them: Loud, funny, close to their fans and full of vigour.
Despite wistfulness and mixed feelings, due to the amazing show that will remain their last, a spark of hope remains. On both sides new plans have been announced and their realization can be anticipated. And maybe one has to look at it in a more positive way: Even if the chapter FVK is finished, two new musical adventures await us. We just have to allow for them to unfold.
